A new 8,500 seat football stadium was built to complement Gaffney High School and has replaced an aging community favorite with improved facilities that reflect past football traditions. The facility takes advantage of the natural bowl topography on the site, creating a 8.5 million dollar stadium with amenities such as press boxes, outdoor patio areas, booster boxes, on field band seating, and a team meeting room that overlooks the playing field from the north endzone. Team locker rooms are located in the south endzone for both the Indians and the visiting team. The beloved tradition of running from locker room to the field through an entry tunnel was redirected but remains a symbolic element of the new stadium. The two-story brick and block press boxes blend contextually with the conservative Southern architecture of the existing school. Click here for arial shots of the new stadium taken by Don Spencer.
